探班报告：Cosmeston村

这一位听说剧组在Cosmeston拍戏，便过去了。下面是她的报告：
So after I saw some tweets about Merlin filming at Cosmeston over at [info]gealach_ros's journal, I thought I'd use the bus ticket I already had anyway for the day and take the bus over there. Have been wanting to see the medieval village anyway.
Anyway, Merlin, because that's all you guys are going to be interested in anyway*g*. no pictures, obviously, they had a relatively vigilant eye on people.
but I saw the scene from afar. Can't tell you anything about the dialogue, 'cause I couldn't hear it. It involved Merlin and Arthur and some other people, new to the show from what I could see. No Hunith, no Gaius. But it was an execution, someone was supposed to burn on the stake, but Arthur and Merlin interrupted at sword-point.
that's all I got. Colin and Bradley were in their usual costumes, gorgeous as ever and Colin sometimes had his puffy coat on. They talked a lot with each other between takes and sat with each other when there was a longer break. And Colin kept joking around with the crew members.
Now that you're all satisfied*g* on to other stuff about this afternoon.
The crew are all so nice. I talked to a few of them, just general conversation, not really about Merlin, though I did ask them whether they liked their jobs, because they did a lot of standing around today, which must get boring as hell. but yeah, everyone was really nice and smiling at me and they seemed to be in a pretty good mood generally.
the village itself and the lakes are really nice. I liked Cosmeston better than St.Fagan's (which is not exactly medieval, but more 17th/18th/19th century, because they really put a lot of detail into the interior of the houses. It's cute, except for this one house where there's a random puppet sitting at a table with his back to you and the house was dark, so it was just slightly creepy.
The lake and the little marshland leading up to the medieval village were just gorgeous and I took a few landscape snapshots and I think I'll be going back there on a warmer day and without Merlin filming disturbing my exploring of the area. Not that I'm complaining*g*.
the two boys are so pretty.
and it was really interesting to watch the whole filming process, it was a first for me, so yeah, happy I went there even though I could only watch from afar.

k so i know this is kind of old news now (if something that happened two days ago can be counted as old news, idk) but a few people have asked over twitter but i’m bad at twitter so i’m writing it here and mainly it’s just because if i don’t write it down somewhere i’ll forget. seriously i have a bad memory.
not really but kind of spoilery, so here’s a read more thing~
merlin filming!
so i guess the main part was the filming in the medieval village.
there was villagers and merlin and arthur, that’s pretty much it. the parts i saw them rehearse/film were
-the villagers walking the woman up to the…i want to call it a pyre? i don’t actually know what it’s called. the thing they burn people on. ima call it the stake, that’s possibly right.
although when i saw it they were just rehearsing i guess because they had one of the crew standing in for the woman being taken to the stake. but they had fire! and drums that they were playing as the walked her up to the stake! it was cool.
-arthur and merlin rushing in to save the day. well, it was less rushing in and more of a threatening walk, but whatever. arthur says something along the lines of “let the woman go” and points his sword at some people and that’s all i saw before i had to leave.
but also! when i first stumbled across them, they were in part of the woods, filming a good old ‘merlin and arthur have fun talks around a campfire’ type scene. and i didn’t actually realise until they were done and they started to leave, but the woman (from the stake) was in that scene as well, i presume she was on the ground where i couldn’t see.
so depending on whether that scene happens before or after the one in the village, a few different things could be going on in this episode i guess.

hearing colin laugh with bradley like bradley had just told the funniest joke he’d ever heard (it was ADORABLE)
seeing bradley almost hit himself in the face with his sword. (he was doing that thing with he kicks it up and catches it. 9/10 times it was very impressive, the one other time, not so much.)
SEEING COLIN IN A PUFFY JACKET BECAUSE OMG MY LIFE IS COMPLETE
tldr; merlin filming was interesting and i am bad at writing summaries of the things i have seen and also i need to learn what a pyre is, but colin and bradley are the MOST ADORABLE.
