I heard the bells on Christmas Day,
圣诞节的钟声敲响
Their old familiar carols play,

It was as if an earthquake rent

The hearth-stones of a continent, 
每个家庭不再贫寒；
And made forlorn 
送走孤独，
The households born

And in despair I bowed my head; 
失望中我低头慨叹，
"There is no peace on earth," I said; 
为何世上总有战乱？
"For hate is strong, 
这首歌受到嘲弄，
And mocks the song 
只因胸中仇恨装满：
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep: 
钟声愈加响亮深沉：
"God is not dead; nor doth he sleep! 
“上帝永在，苍天有眼！
The Wrong shall fail, 
谬误终将落败，
The Right prevail, 
正义万古流传，
With peace on earth, good-will to men!" 
和平布满大地，福佑撒遍人间！”

　　亨利-沃兹沃思-朗费罗（1807-1882）是美国最伟大的诗人之一，出生于缅因州，毕业于鲍登学院，在马萨诸塞州的康桥度过他成年的大部分时间。

　　这首诗是亨利-沃兹沃思-朗费罗在1864年的圣诞节创作的，当时正处于美国内战时期。
