It's the first major update we've had in over a year. It completely overhauls some clan systems, the raid system, and a few other mechanics. This update is bringing in new players, bringing back old players, and everyone is trying to hit the servers at the time time. Also, with any major software update, not just TT2, unforeseen issues can crop up. Sometimes you can only test so much before you release, and then the normal population of players will find things you never thought possible in your testing.
It's frustrating that the servers are on fire right now, but it's something we need to be patient with. It'll balance out in a day or two.
