Alex and Aaron wrote this song about past girlfriends and how those girls have used them. "Adrienne" is just a name Alex and Aaron came up with to symbolize all these people. They say that "Adrienne" is no one in particular. However, in a recent german interview with Alex, Alex says that "Adrienne" for him was his first love from when he was 15. The girl dumped him for his best buddy. Her name was not Adrienne though. They believe that everyone has an "Adrienne" in his or her life.

This song is about everyday life. Alex explains that this song derives from seeing all the less fortunate people on the streets everyday and how you can't tell that "we're forgiven." We just ignore them like we could care less.

This song is always misinterpreted. While many think that in this song Alex is saying, "Don't hate me, cuz I'm just that good," if you listen to the lyrics closely he is actually saying, "You say, don't hate me..." Alex explains that this song is about a girl who does not realize what she is missing. She is so caught up in feeling so great that she does not see the true meaning of life. So once you look at her, you realize that you don't want her anymore.
